Cannabis Testing

Cannabis Testing

The cannabis market has become an emerging industry in North America since the onset of legalization. With the rising demand of the drug, quality testing of cannabis to meet regulations is essential. For cannabis testing, including potency, pesticides, heavy metal, mycotoxin, or residual solvents, SpectraLab Scientific carries HPLC, GC, MS, ICP-MS, and other equipment that you need. Whether you are a dispensary or a grower, analysis of your products is crucial for quality and safety. Our affordable instruments are fully refurbished and tested and we provide warranty, installation and support. SpectraLab Scientific provides you full analytical packages at a low price.

Cannabis Testing Applications:

  • Cannabinoid Characterization
  • Mycotoxins
  • Pesticides and Herbicides
  • Residual Solvents
  • Terpenes
  • THC Potency
  • Heavy Metals
  • Molds and fungi
Analytical Equipment for Cannabis Testing:
  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
HPLC systems are used for mycotoxin screening and potency testing. They can measure the amount of THC, THCA, CBD, CDBA, and CBN. This procedure can also be used for the original plant material potency testing and THC/ CBD ratio calculations.
  • Gas Chromatography (GC)
Like HPLC, GC systems can be calso used to quantify the potency of cannabis. GC does not detect THCA or CBDA directly, but can still measure total THC and total CBD. GC is generally considered faster and simpler than HPLC. For positive identification of each cannabinoid, GC-MS is an option.
  • Mass Spectrometry (MS)
MS systems are used to test for residual solvents such as herbicides, pesticides, water, butane, carbon dioxide, ethanol and other solvents. Residual solvents can be measured by headspace analysis with GC and flame ionization detection (HS-GC-FID). GC-MS can also be used for terpenoid profiling.
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP)
ICP-MS systems are used to test for heavy metal contaminants such as lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, and more.
  • Atomic Absorption (AAS)
Like ICP-MS, AAS systems are also used to test for heavy metal contaminants.
